About OCTACAN
Octacan is Dunedin’s annual winter food drive.
It’s when the community comes together to help fill the shelves of the city’s busiest foodbank.
This year, Octacan takes place on Thursday 25 June 2026 in the Lower Octagon, Dunedin. Bring along cans of food and place them into the large star displays as part of the event.
Timed with Matariki – a time to reflect on food sources and give thanks for the promise of harvest – every item donated helps ensure foodbank shelves are stocked when they’re needed most.

Instead of buying cans and bringing them to the Octagon, you simply add food support to your cart – and we do the rest.
